Well, I thought it would take me longer to vote, but as much as I love Def Leppard, Twisted Sister is just pure fun. Honestly, the biggest thing that puts them in with bands like Poison and Warrant is Dee Snider's "uniform", cause musically they're pretty much straight up old school heavy metal. Like Judas Priest with more of a punk influence and more silliness than a barrel full of monkeys on acid.

Well, I'm pretty sure the original glam metal scene from LA did legitimately evolve out of glam punk roots. Not any kind of expert though, so feel free to educate me.

I re-listened to Stay Hungry and its a great album and has Tom Werman's production all over it, the killer tracks are "Captain Howdy" and "Street Justice" I was always a fan of the debut anyway and the second album is on a par with it but Stay Hungry is their definitive album but as impressive as it is, still have to go with Def Leppard on this. Stay Hungry.
You can really hear the classic metal influence such as Sabbath, Maiden and AC/DC (especially in "I Wanna Rock"). They managed carrying it along well. It's better driven and the lyrics aren't as corny. I prefer Snider's voice as well. Already said my piece on DL. Twisted Sister - 7 Def Leppard - 4

It's interesting to hear people talk of a punk influence in Twisted Sister because originally Twisted Sister came from the same scene as the New York Dolls, Richard Hell, The Dictators in the early 70s. The only difference was those bands got signed & Twisted Sister didn't until 1981 when they did their first tour of the UK.
So it could be argued that Twisted Sister are a proto punk band,

I remember when I was 13 going in to buy Stay Hungry.
The guy at the record store refused to sell it to me because he thought I was too young. So a few days later I asked my mother to buy it for me, as the guy at the shop knew her when he saw she was fine with me having it he let me buy whatever albums I liked. Having said that I still think You Can't Stop Rock 'n' Roll is Twisted Sister's best album.
