Heh. The three best songs on the album were all ones you had listened to 0-1 times ("Caffeine", Malpractice" and "Jizzlobber") and one of your most listened songs isn't actually part of the original track listing ("Easy"). I'm glad you've finally given the album a real chance!

Gave Caffeine a 4.5/5 for some reason... probably on the notion that I didn't want to rate every song 5 stars.

Gave ****lobber 4.5/5 for being a tad too long, but its a 5/5 in my head.

Malpractice is great.

I didn't know the Easy cover was a later edition....

Yeah, it was released as single/EP called Songs to Make Love To the year after Angel Dust. The other tracks were pretty good too:

(Dead Kennedys cover here)

If anyone needs either album, just shoot me a PM. I'm going to give the albums another listen before I vote.

imma ready to vote

Sunn O))) - i only have their last two albums and i love both, and also the one they did with Boris. But this one????? iffy, the first four tracks are still mired in their black/death roots and try their darndest to be "disturbing" but it doesn't really disturb me. If I want "disturbing", i'd put on Goblin's Suspiria OST, that one is truly "disturbing". The next few tracks are the Sunn O))) I know and love. So I only like less than half of this album.

Keiji Haino - the first 20 minutes is quite boring actually, sorta post-metallish ambient stuff and reminds me of the apostle Paul in prison, for some strange reason. Then the disembodied voices come in strongly around the 25 minute mark before turning into something like an outtake from "Heroin". After the 35 minute mark, it's hellishly good, though, free-form chordal improvisational with Keiji just throwing in any configuration of notes he can muster and I really dig that.

so....

Sunn O))) - 0
Keiji Haino - 1

I've hardly ever listened to any drone metal and started this war with the Kenjo Haino album and I was almost asleep for the first 20 mins (I never realized it was going to be one long song) I enjoyed the later part of the album more for its feel but to be honest free form improvisational is not really my thing. I think Kenji Haino is an acquired taste and needs repeated listen to feel the quality of the music which I don't doubt is there.

Sun 0))) was more what i expected, this sounded like a slower black metal with a drone sound, it was highly atmospheric and the imagery of the band in the You Tube videos really matched the music and I enjoyed the album in general, despite the fact that several of the songs sounded exactly the same.

I certainly want to listen to more by either artist.

Sunn 0))) -1
Kenji Haino -1

I love all of the noise elements of the Haino album, and all of the free form chord variations in the end. However, the doominess of the Sunn O))) album and the manner in which they have their songs build up throughout the progression of their pieces is far more appealing to me. Plus it seems to be coming from a darker place overall, and that's always a plus for me. My vote is going to Black One.

Sunn O))) -2
Kenji Haino -1
