The only album I don't know is the Harvey Milk one, I don't think the band is even metal, I'm guessing its a rock band just doing a sludgy sound.

^^just got it and listening to it
it sounds metallic enough for me, though the first few notes are quite misleading hereunto you I cast my vote:- Eyehategod - totally shambolic, sometimes not even keeping time, not even a very coherent album at times, saying that, though, i do enjoy it depending on my mood - kudos to them for taking the Melvins ethos to the next level Harvey Milk - lot more effort put into this, i quite like the ambient bits and the dream-pop bits, also the wild shifts of loud-soft dynamics, and they're a very much tighter band than EHG overall so:- Eyehategod - 0 Harvey Milk - 1

I would have went with "Courtesy and Good Will Toward Men" for Harvey Milk, better album... but whatever.

Alright, this could have something to do with the fact that I'm in the middle of a heavy death metal kick, but both albums were pretty boring to me. I suspect at another time I would have been more open minded, since I've liked Eyehategod more in the past, but they still lack in the riff department. I'll go with Eyehategod since they kicked some ass with "Sister****er Part I".

Woweee... Eyehategod's vocalist is ****ty. For screamers, he's probably one of the worst I've ever heard and I think he belongs in a crappy punk band, not a sludge metal band. The songs themselves are pretty meh as well. I mean, maybe this was exciting back in the early nineties but I do not think it has held up well.

Harvey Milk with their squalls of noise and then sludgy experimental sound reminded instantly of the Melvins, the album was good and shows the potential of the band, but its actually the second album that gets all the plaudits based on the reviews I've been reading, so for that reason we're hearing the band in a develpoment stage on this album. Eyehategod are the weakest of the main three New Orleans sludgy bands Corrosion of Conformity and Crowbar both being better. But the album selected is easily their best work with its swampy sludge sound and I actually don't mind the vocals either.
Eyehategod -2 Harvey Milk -2

Shit you're right, I could have sworn they were from New Orleans. Raleigh is like several states away!

I hadn't heard of Harvey Milk prior to the battle but kudos to James for tossing them into the ring, I loved what I heard. Sure Eyehategod's riffs are immense and epic, with sublime moments of blues but Harvey Milk takes it for me. It's just so slow and heavy, and the vox seem really desperate and personal. I just loved it.
