aren't they all pretty crap, anyway, looking like some 13 year old's idea of a horror movie scene?

i only really liked the later Obituary album covers, anyway - at least they looked that bit sinister

I wouldn't describe any of those as great personally. In fact the Nile one is the only one that's competently designed and even that's just sort of dull. Fun fact about the Obituary one though: that painting was used for the cover of an H.P. Lovecraft short story collection before the band got a hold of it. I remember seeing Cause of Death at my friend's house when it came out and thinking, "Heeey, I know this painting!"

Pretty much, yeah. I feel like death metal album covers in general range from being flat out awful to being sort of "meh", I can't think of any off the top of my head that I actually think are good.

Yeah... everybody is knocking MA for the new album... it is bad.. but doesnt change the fact they made 3 essential albums.

Agreed, but I wouldn't say that they're flying the flag for American death metal anymore, which was the point of Hip Hop Bunny's post.
