listening to Demigod's "Slumber of Sullen Eyes" again now. Still a great album to me.

They also released what I would say is the best Death Metal demo of all-time.

But I still love first 3 albums by Amorphis. Elegy was actually the first one I heard, and though not a Death Metal release, still highly enjoyable in its own right.
The first four Amorphis albums go from death metal to melodic death metal with doom, folk metal and finally onto a more straight up metal/hard rock sound, whilst most of the time being progressive as well. They did a lot on four albums.

was watching this video again:

kinda funny vocally at times, but yet still great. Out of all the old school bands to make their return recently, I still think Autopsy was the best of the bunch. "Macabre Eternal" was a great full length. Though not on the level as "Mental Funeral", still a great release in its own right.

The video is a song taken from the "The Tomb Within" EP... which I think was more a stopgag EP released to tide people over tilt he full length came out.

I've grown to seriously love the Finnish death metal scene. They had some of the most diverse bands of any scene. They seemed to take the Swedish sound and update it.

Yeah, they have a unique sound, that I can not really put into words or pin point just what it is.... but I like it.

I do love Swedish as well though.

Listened to this EP recently again, and still enjoyed it:

It's like what Florida death metal would have been, had they not become so obsessed with technicality.

Are you guys familiar with Sarco***us? I believe they're the first metal band to come out of Finland; their sound on "Cycle of Life" is something like the first two Judas Priest albums with a psychedelic bent. It's fun, and the sound certainly sticks with you - although much of the song writing is quite weak.

Ulcerate is the only DM band I can think of that incorporates elements of post-rock into their sound, does anyone know any similar bands?

Too melodic for my tastes. I do like a couple songs here and there from a few of the bands, but overall the scene is just to on the melodic side of things for me.

always kinda liked this song:

and remember buying this album at one point:

Though saw DT open for Opeth a few years back and don't remember being all that blown away by them. They sounded alright, but boring set.
