I`m getting through them slowly, rather than listening to just the albums you`ve recommended I`m listening to some of their discographies as well. I`m not only going through the list you first mentioned but also the second list (introduction list) again its surprising how many I don`t know on that list. Most metal genres I can cram listen, but with death metal if I listen to too many albums at the same time, it all merges into one, therefore I`m listening to them slowly.
From the stuff I already knew quite well and adding some of the stuff you`ve recommended, my current top 10 death metal albums looks something like this and in no special order but the 3 highlighted I still think are the best 3 so far: Immolation- Dawn of Possession Possessed- Seven Churches Death- Leprosy Death- Individual Thought Patterns Death- Symbolic Morbid Angel- Covenant Obituary- Cause of Death Obituary- The End Complete Deicide- Legion Atheist- Atheist Today I`ve got the Gorguts and I see they are from Quebec which makes them sound interesting and I`m looking forward to hearing their brand of technical death metal. To be honest, I like death metal in it rawest form and in its technical form pretty much the same. |

I'm into bands like
Kaamos Opeth, though that's debatable as to whether or not they're death metal Exmortus Old Sepultura (morbid visions was pretty death metalish) Damn, I'm sure I'm forgetting a ton... I haven't really been listening to much metal lately so I'm beginning to forget bands, oh well you get the idea. |

and of course "Deliverance" as well. Last 2 has not been as Death Metal oriented, retain a small amount. But their earlier stuff was very in debt to Death Metal.

Honestly, I don't know what I find stranger: spotting a woman in a death metal band, or a black dude. I know the 'spanics and east asians like it, and even some jews, but I guess death metal has evaded the black community pretty well.
The only black guys in death metal i can think of are the two who were in Suffocation & that drummer who was in Diabolic and a bunch of other bands.

Yeah Orchid was definitely more on the black metal side, but you're right MAYH is pretty death metal-ly. That's actually my favorite album of theirs. Deliverance was a bit of a dissapointment to me, just not particularly impressive but definitely on the death metal side. Quote:

Bump...
Man, not usually huge on most melodic death metal, but I enjoy this band Think this proves to me how his best work is outside of Cannibal Corpse yet again. His vocals on the first 2 Monstrosity albums are amazing, as are the vocals in PoP.. Only thing I really loved with him in Cannibal Corpse was "Vile".

Well that is a start, Gorguts are amazing. Should be in the ranks of Death or Obituary.
