^ You know it's funny how I go years without ever hearing about a band, and then when I finally do I keep seeing people talk about them right after. I'd never heard of this band until a few months ago, now everyone's talking about how great they were it seems.

But Asphyx are great, everybody who has not heard it should download "The Rack". Autopsy is also a great band, "Mental Funeral" is essential, better than "Severed Survival" was was more less just them doing what Death was doing, "Mental Funeral" saw them progress into their own sound, and that album is one of the filthiest most vile sounding albums I have ever heard..

Winter I have not heard enough to know what I feel.

The other 2 were Hooded Menace and Runemagick.

I am sorry for putting a 'Deathcore' band in here (thats apparently what they are classed as - I cant keep up any more) but there is a lot about this band that I really like. Some decent riffing, dual vocal styles, changes of BPM and a bald guy with a beard on guitar ;)

I feel the same way you do about too much ping in a snare but I actually like the way the drums on that album were recorded a lot. They definitely sound very tight and high but the end result is percussion that's evocative of hand drums and which fits very well with the middle eastern influences in the music. YouTube audio quality probably doesn't do it justice but it sounds great on my car stereo. I think it might be worth your while to give the actual album a try if you get the chance because it strikes as something that would be right up your alley.

I've never heard of this band before until now. Pretty good deathcore I'd say, which is definitely a rarity. The only deathcore band I like is All Shall Perish. I think you would enjoy them, as they are very technical and have a European-influenced sound (most American deathcore is relatively simple and contains constant breakdowns...it's pretty bad). I won't post a link because it is a death metal thread, but if you liked Oceano I'll bet you would like All Shall Perish.
