Default Mayhem Festival 2011

I noticed mayhem festival threads for other years of the tour died a quick death, hopefully this will one will be different. I will only post the lineup that is playing in Indianapolis as that is the one I will be seeing come August 7th. Feel free to hate on the bands, praise them, do whatever. Any sort of discussion will suffice. Here we go:

Main Stage:
Megadeth
Disturbed
Godsmack
In Flames

Revolver Stage:
Machine Head
Suicide Silence
All Shall Perish
Straight Line Stitch

Jägermeister Stage:
Hatebreed
Unearth
Kingdom of Sorrow
Red Fang
*Battle of the Bands Winner*

I went last year and it was really fun even though some of the artists last year weren't "trve metal". I'm also pretty sure Indy had the largest attendance of the tour with 25,000 to 30,000 people there so it's always an interesting experience to say the least. It should also be noted that I will be going with the infamous LOLPACALYPSE as well.

I went two years ago in Virginia Beach, VA and it was awesome. Cannibal Corpse obliterated my skull...almost literally as I didn't have money for any more beer so I was developing a hangover and I'd been dropped on my head twice already from crowd surfing, but I didn't even notice how bad my head was hurting until after their set. It made my year that I threw the horns to the "Corpsegrinder" and he threw them right back.

The last two years haven't has as good lineups though. I'd ****ing love to see Megadeth though. But since they're on the mainstage, they'll be like a mile away from me unless I shell out like $150. And for some reason the last time I went the pit at the front didn't even mosh for some ****ing reason (and Slayer was one of the headliners for god's sake) so I'd rather just spend $12 for the field where I can at least mosh.

I am PUMPED to see this. Not one band on there that I wouldn't want to see (except I know nothing about Red Fang). For those that don't know, Hatebreed is only playing at three locations, and Trivium plays all the rest.
I expect all the mainstagers to be good (I've seen a quality show from Disturbed already). I have yet to see a poor performance (via Youtube) from Godsmack, and if Megadeth plays as well as they did in Buenos Aires that will be great as well. In Flames will be awesome for sure. Hatebreed I'm sure will be great again, but I'm really curious to see Suicide Silence and All Shall Perish. It will also be interesting to see how the chick singer from Straight Line Stitch does.

People at Indy are crazy. Last year the crowd was nearly as entertaining as the bands. During 5FDP's set, the lawn crowd began ripping sod out of the ground and flinging it up into the air and into the pavilion. This went on for almost the entire set, and it literally looked like it was raining dirt.

The performances were all great last year except 3 Inches of Blood and Shadows Fall. The best were easily Chimaira, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, and surprisingly, Korn.

Lamb of God is the loudest band I've ever heard. Their stage props are just more amps. Ears were bleeding...but in the best possible way

The line up from two years ago was easily the best and I'd say, the most "extreme". There wasn't a bad group on there save for Bullet for My Valentine. How was Killswitch that year? I know they headlined but unfortunately I didn't attend in 09.

They were sick.

Everyone in seats was tired as **** from the rest of the show so they were all sitting down and wouldn't get up (I was too, but I had an excuse. My head was splitting. Every time I moved my head it would just start pounding.), so Adam kept yelling at the crowd to "Get the **** up". He basically just berrated everybody in their seats and called them pussies. It was awesome. And yeah, Bullet were kinda lame. Not terrible, but Killswitch basically did everything they did ten times better.

Damn, that makes we wish I could've been there even more two years ago. It's kind of pathetic that I still haven't seen KSE live yet and they're one of my fav bands. That year seems to be sort of an anomaly in that there weren't many super mainstream bands there. I wonder why that year was so different.
