^ gee, from your username I would have never guessed.
Was this show before or after Mick & Keith got dentures?

The best live performance i ever went to was Slipknot

macman 04-22-2005 03:51 PM

not sure yet; but i'm off to see motorhead and in flames in november:D

Merkaba 04-22-2005 05:48 PM

Slipknot5555.....did joey do a drum solo for you guys? i hav this vid clip on my comp of joey playing the drums while on a tilting platform, hes buckled in and at one stage hes playing them vertically, pretty cool to watch.

Converge, for me.

My favorite shows would have to be:
1. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum / Wow! The atmosphere they created was astounding and profound, and they were able to pull it off in a small club in Columbia. Think post-apocalyptic turn-of-the-century mind****. Yeah.
2. Tool / In the full swing of an amazing acid trip at Bonnaroo '07, Tool took the stage after The Roots as the sun left the sky and unleashed with their entire visual arsenal to accompany their amazing live performance.
3. Alice In Chains / Though Layne is dirt now, William DuVall not only held it down, but brought it to a new level. I've been listening to AIC since I was in my single digits, so seeing them live has always been a dream of mine anyway.
4. Dropkick Murphys / You can't go wrong with a band that packs the house with a bunch of happy-drunken, rowdy people. I suffered nerve damage in my elbow from their pit, but life is full of that kind of **** and I'm glad it happened during such a good time.
5. Bad Religion / They have much the same crowd as Dropkick, but not as drunk. That, and I love their music-content combination.

The Grateful Dead, Talking Heads, U2 and R.E.M. are all great, as well as Queen, which is perhaps the greatest live band.

haven't seen any big bands except for metallica, which was ****.

But the local South African bands give it a good bash on stage with most of them actually being better live than on record.

Motorhead can put on a show without all the tech, and Dinosaur Jr. does great stuff on guitar and jamming live, and also sound good, but you can't hear the vocals. With the tech, Judas Priest and Heaven and Hell (Dio's Sabbath) puts on a great show. AC/DC is pretty good also.

The best band I have seen over the last few years was definitely Ministry. So damn tight. Best raw band I have to say is Napalm Death, seen them so many times and the energy was always real and never forced.
