Default Originality Desired

I love bands like Tool and for those of you who acknoledge Tool you'll know where im comin from. It seems to me that these days bands dont strive for originality, its about album sales and popularity and generally selling out. I know thats a real broad comment but even the bands that start out original with good quality music tend to sell themselves after a while.

All i'm asking is if anyone knows any good quality bands like Tool or NIN and so forth can they let me know???

P.S check out www.solviband.com thats some promising ****. free downloads at the site

originality is pretty high up on my agenda too, but i dont agree with you saying theres no real originality around today. mars volta, tom vek, ariel pink, dead 60s, beck, magic numbers, le tigre, the coral, white stripes, kings of leon (iffy, but i would say their quite original) and 80s matchbox bline disaster are all pretty original and innovative while unlike anything else. you just need to look for them.

Na dude i dont mean theres no originality around i just mean a lot of it fades out of bands as they become more and more mainstream. Sure theres always originality when a new band forms. Lol i must admit i've done hardly any research though.

Let's see....originality huh?
well, Manson for starters....and I guess there is No Doubt, cuz nobody really wants to mis-label them....ska/punk/garage/whatever....
there are lots of greats too, like Leonard Cohen, and Jim Morrisson....ah ha! Pink f*cking Floyd!!!! There ya go! originality at it's best...but this is kinda a pointless thread, originality is over now, all the original bands were like back in the 70's and 80's....everything now is just a broken record played over again...

I know what you mean, but like there are some original bands out there in todays music world. Hopefully. I personally believe bands like nickelback and alter bridge should be banned from entering a studio because they hav no talent. they are the pussies of the rock world. Does anyone know any good experimental bands or stuff out of the ordinary

Anarchy Doll....Yer' my favorite punk rock mommy and all, but I'd rather cut my wrists with a pair of rusty hedgeclippers than to listen to Leonard Cohen. Its the musical equivalent of watching flies f**k.
