Do Metal Bands Have Groupies?
 

i was thinking about starting a metal-sounding band but only if actual girls will show up to our gigs. i look around at some metal shows and its just a bunch of bearded smelly dudes headbanging. **** that scene. whats the hell's the point of being in a band if your only playing to guys?

Just try getting into bearded smelly guys..then your a hit.

Just get Justin Bieber to sing for your band. All the girls will pine after him and you'll just get the leftovers.

If you care too much about what the fans think or who your audience is, you're not going to be satisfied, artistically, with your output. Make the music you want.

Every time I go to any show with slightly aggressive music theres about 5 women there I think are pretty hot. 25 I don't, and the rest of the crowd is male.

If you don't look like a troll and you make decent music then you can still pick up some pretty hot women. Its not going to be Crue in the 80's women, but they do exist.

All the hott girls are at the Dave Mathews Band show and their fat, ugly sisters are getting all sweaty in your bands mosh pit

Once. It was an odd blend of hott college aged girls and hippies who probably don't even shave. But it was right outside a college campus so the college aged population was probably more than usual. Everyone was stoned of course.

It also depends on what kind of metal band you are. If you're a death/thrash/doom/black/etc band, I'm sure you'll only see a few chicks. If it's a hot topic band kinda show you get plenty of hot chicks. But they're mostly just there with their boyfriends.

I feel like college kids will go to any show thats near by. I'm just guessing you had a lot of first time DMB goers.

^^^ this is true, and black metal is currently hep amongst the punk kids. I don't know what weird stars had to align to get obonxiously liberal kids into Burzum, but it's happened.

I think it's obvious that fame and cute looks are more important to most people than politics.

Yeah, I just felt the need to reiterate that music needs to be played because it's what the artist wants to play.

Eh? Black Metal musicians lack both these traits.

I think they dig black metal because they see it as edgy. They love talking about the murders and the myths regarding the murders.... not so much about the music. But, hey, at least punk girls aren't as obese as mainstream girls.

When I saw The Chariot play just recently there were quite a few girls there, and not a small number of hotties. Whether or not they were with boyfriends or not I don't know, but they're were certainly more guys there.

You'd probably have better luck as an alternative metal group. There were plenty of females at the Filmore in Detroit when we saw Deftones. Also waiting outside by the buses.

Its been said before, but dude if you want chick groupies your best chances are to sell out completley. Wouldnt you rather want to play the music you like cause you love doing it regardless of your fan base?

Listen dude, you want chicks? Don't do anything metal. At all. Start a band that starts with the pop- prefix, possibly with the -rock or -punk suffix, and you're halfway there. Make all of your songs about wanting love or losing love and you're all the way there.
