Default Metal Showdown (Round 5) - Alice In Chains vs Guns N' Roses

http://www.musicbanter.com/rock-meta...dise-lost.html

In the last round, Alice In Chains easily beat out the relatively unknown Paradise Lost 5-2.

This time, however, they're up against a more formidable opponent, and that is Guns N' Roses.

Guns N Roses

There's not much to say about these guys other than the obvious short history the original lineup had together. They had a really short but extremely successful streak with Appetite For Destruction, their EP Lies, and the Use Your Illusion double album.

I wasn't alive for any of this, but I know of the massive impact they had on heavy music during the late 80's/early 90's that's still felt today. They are a band that sadly went astray due to tons of infighting that forced everyone to go separate ways, essentially turning GNR into the Axl Rose show. Not to mention Axl's douchey stage antics that still linger to this day, such as canceling an entire show because someone in the front row threw a water bottle at him.

All that aside, they are a band that has changed the history of hard rock and metal music, and rightfully have their place in the history of rock. Let's see if they can win this round.

Alice In Chains

AIC return for another round against the powerful GNR. Let's see if one of the kings of Grunge can hold their own against Axl and the gang.

As for me, I'm going with AIC. They had a much tighter group dynamic than GNR, and despite the loss of their vocalist, still manage to churn out new material that rivals their old stuff to a certain extent. I can't say the same for GNR, but hopefully something will come out of this new reunion.
