Alot of people think of me as a straight up "metal" guy. This isn't true. I listen to many genres of music, and QOTSA is one of my personal favourite groups.

I also enjoy Kyuss.

The Desert Sessions were pretty epic, and qotsa are decent in my book.

I find them a bit hit and miss. Stoner rock is a genre I really need to dig deeper in. I absolutely adore the MASTERS OF REALITY debut album, and they have ties with QOTSA.

QOTSA are clever but I feel they've lost their mojo over the last couple of albums. I defintely think Oliveri took a bit of their bang when he left for the spastic Mondo.G.

Stoner rock is such a grand genre, I absolutely fucking love it. Even the relatively poor bands that are out there usually have something going for them like a fun riff and a bit of get up and go. It's one of those genres that I don't think can really do any wrong.

jackhammer, I'd suggest looking into some Fu Manchu if I were you. In particular their King Of The Road album, absolute masterpiece. Makes me want to buy an old Camaro and drive on, and on, and on, and on....

And try Superjudge by Monster Magnet, jesus mate, talk about gorgeous sun glazed, dazed and persuasively trippy psyche jams. Dave Wyndorf is great on the ol' vocals and lyrics on this one too. These guys fed their music the drugs so you wouldn't have to do the consuming.

I agree, they weren't the same band after Oliveri left. IMO, Homme needs to collaborate and Oliveri was his most productive partner in both in Kyuss and QOTSA. Jackhammer...also check out Orange Goblin.

I've been heavily into their self-titled lately. Jammed on "You Can't Quit Me Baby" for a good ten minutes when I saw them - been hooked ever since. Their new sound is great, but damn, they should do some more extended jamming. Fucking amazing at it.

One of the few bands that continually puts out solid records. Their new album is damn fine. And contains one of the best guitar riffs of the year in the fill of Sick Sick Sick.

I disagree. Its far from their best, their first 3 albums piss all over Era Vulgaris. They've lost their mojo since Oliveri left.

Sure, but I never said it was their best. It's still a great record.
