Bleh I'm the opposite... I don't dislike but I don't like their old works. I can't really stomach screaming. There are hardly any exceptions, but they get a pass... barely. It's best when there isn't screaming through the whole track, at least.

Remission is their most fun album. I love to put in the disc while in the car and drive off to the opening tracks.

Perhaps. It's certainly their best.

You'll really hate their even earlier stuff then, I guess. Its got the intensity of Remission but is even less polished.

I'll admit I didn't listen to all of it. Wasn't familiar enough with Feist's originals but at least Mastodon's covers sounded like covers. Her 'covers' just sounded like trip hop remixes. I liked the concept better than the results.

I dunno, i thought her Black Tongue was way better than mastodon's- less cheesy frills, more ominous mood. And i like Mastodon's cover of her song- which i forgot now- a little better than hers as well, it sounded really natural for them, surprisingly.

Why is it that I can't find any relevant info on these covers of which you speak?

I have yet to hear it but I believe they are referring to the Record Store Day release, which was a Mastodon/Feist split.

Well, the Mastodon cover of Feist can be found upon first entering their website, which also has little fader tool for choosing how much of which song to listen to, original or cover, and Feist's Black Tongue can be found on youtube somewhere, i guess. That's the most fundamental info i can offer; i was shown this by a friend.
