It's straight up metal. It sounds nothing like Pink Floyd.

Clear up your own ignorance if you like the band but care little enough about them to ask this here.

Fine, let's converse.

Hinds is the guitarist with red curly hair and a head injury and Sanders is the bassist with stringy brown hair who does better vocals.

Wait, does/did Hinds really have a head injury? I know he's got a really dumb tattoo on his face. Another reason why I like Sanders-- no visible tattoos.

Heh, hadn't even thought of those lyrics when I was making the comparison.

Also, I think Brent's tattoo is badass.

Yes. He got in a drunken fight with some of the guys from System of a Down after the 2007 MTV awards, got his nose broken and hit his head on pavement. Apparently he had brain hemorrhaging and spent a long time in recovery. If I'm not mistaken the tattoo is covering a scar.

Ooooohhh, well if his tattoo is to cover a scar, that's less lame.

that's pretty crap

if you want to pick a fight with another band, you might as well pick on Hoobastank or A Simple Plan, cos they're pussies

Well, the details are pretty shady but from what I read back when it happened it seems that Hinds was completely wasted and was taunting one of the SOAD members. He took off his shirt and started hitting the guy with it until one of SOAD's entourage clocked him in the face, just about shattering Hinds' nose and then down he went.

Police were involved, SOAD were questioned and Hinds spent a lot of time in the hospital. I think there was a time that it looked like he may have been put out of action forever (with severe brain damage) but obviously that didn't happen.

And according to one of the Mastodon DVDs, after Hinds got out of the hospital he had to stay home and rest for a few months and he made a huge sculpture out of a tree with a chainsaw to pass the time. Which is pretty cool.
