I've noticed quite a few people nominate Cradle of Filth for the title of Worst Metal Band Ever. I have no real knowledge of the band or their sound except that they are somewhat popular and at least LOOK like a black metal band. Why are they so bad?

I kind of like Cradle Of Filth. I am not a big fan but I find myself listening to some of their songs every now and then.

they claim to be black extreme metal but their sound is sugary as hell

and the lead singer is incredibly annoying

There's some really great black metal bands, such as Burzum and Darkthrone for example, as well as plenty of rubbish ones. By the looks of it you've just written-off an entire sub-genre, but as you stated yourself you don't know.

Every genre has so many ****ty bands it's hard to keep track, but if it's so hard to keep track of them then why bother? Just keep track of the bands you do like.

i just find the quality of their music bad. they have no identity. it all sound the same. they never progressed. guitars sound like it's being played by a newbie. drums is so elementary.

i don't know about their image. I don't really care for it that much. my dislike is really based on their music.
