I'm going to toss Gwar up there as one of the worst metal bands.

I've heard about their live shows and just bleh

Is Gwar even a real band or are they just making fun of the metal genre?

GWAR is an acquired taste, i dig em. Their live shows are insane and they are just a parody act in that genre. Its like weird al yankovic meets alice cooper and the muppets.

Yeah i hear they proclaimed themselves the sexiest rock act in history. Gwar i can stomach musically, they've grown more proficient with time and i enjoy it to a certain degree.

it's not so much sexy as "puerile, gross, fetish-oriented and perverted" - i have seen vids

Some good power metal albums from some really bad bands, Blind Guardian though, are a lot better than the other two bands and the likes of Dragonforce and Gamma Ray etc.

American power metal is certainly a lot better than its European counterpart and none come any better than Iced Earth.
