It was the 90s, Metallica was no longer the hero of Heavy Metal, Thrash was dieing and the Alternative Rock revolution was in full swing, Pantera was pretty much the only new metal band that had a big impact in the 90s.

I think Napalm Death were a lot more of an influence on 90s metal than Pantera ever were.
