^At the risk of being devoured by that demonic mickey, I must agree that I think (denotes an opinion) that Slayer, altough not really the worst, sucks the proverbial... But I'm not exactly the biggest metal fan.

Rhythmically they can be a bit much. The over the top drums could be pretty put-off-ish to someone who isn't into metal, or possibly jazz.

To be honest, I've only heard up to track 6 on reign in blood. I don't know maybe I just need to give the whole thing a good solid listen through.

Probably. I'd recommend checking out Seasons in the Abyss also. It's a little different from Reign in Blood, more focused on song structure and melody, and might appeal to you more if you aren't into the speed and brutality emphasis of Reign in Blood.
