Future Hall of Famers
Well the 2011 Hall of Famers were announce a while back but my question is what bands that are currently playing will be inducted. I definitley think Linkin Park & Shinedown are the real age of rock right now. As for bands of the 90's I would have to say definitley Nirvana, Nine Inch Nails, SundGarden & Pearl Jam. And of course from the 80's I personally am waiting on Motley Crue, G'N'R (whos probably going to be inducted next year), Def Leppard & Iron Maiden.
So what do you think? I'm actually waiting for a lot of crap from people for saying Motley Crue but I personally think they defined an era of music. Any metal, grunge or glam bands I missed? |

So far I only think Nirvana should be inducted out of that list. I like Iron Maiden, but I don't see them as being revolutionary or anything. Linkin' Park, well... I don't see anything special about them. Don't know what Shinedown is. As for the ones in the 80's... Motley Cru maybe. Def Leppard was just famous. What does the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame go by in terms of their inductees anyways?
EDIT: This would be a fun topic to talk about. We can all explore into modern music and make predictions. |

I think they say bands have to have had a big part in Rock music. However a lot of people think (including me) that you only get in if Bruce Springsteen likes you. But either way it brings a lot of prestige to you if your inducted

I personally feel that Iron Maiden are possibly the most important metal band of all time. They're really the ones that brought melody to the genre. I mean, if you listen to what metal was in the late 70s, and listen to metal in the 80s, I think you'll notice a massive difference, and generally traits that can be very matched up to what Iron Maiden was doing int he late 70s, and early 80s.

Not meaning to troll this thread, but the HOF really is a complete joke, as James said. It's all about who's convenient for the museum to induct, so in other words it's $$$$. They even tried to charge the Sex Pistols $25,000 for the plate dinner at the ceremony... At their OWN induction ceremony.

As said above the Hall of Fame is a joke, especially if they`re thinking of including a band like Def Leppard!!! Whatever next........Bon Jovi or are they already inducted! It always surprises me when people mention Blue Cheer in the presence of other great bands, in this case in the presence of Black Sabbath. Blue Cheer were by and large a very untalented band who just happened to play blues rock very loud, apart from their debut album which is ok, the rest of their discography is rather poor. |
