They should have been a one hit wonder with "Welcome To the Jungle". Seriously, the body of the rest of their work is terrible. Especially since most their hits are ballads, and who the **** is Axl Rose to sing a ballad? It's like asking Katy Perry to sing Cannibal Corpse.

That's possibly the "Circle Gets the Win" answer, although of course the right amount of promotion has to be thrown in. G and R did arrive at a time in The US when radio stations were possibly begging for something which resembled the 70's Rock they never wanted to part with by the time they arrived. Crue and Poison were staples fine enough, but they were quite "Visual" when compared to Axl, Slash, and the rest of the gang. Thanks to having an ace guitarist, the road to stardom was started to be paved.

Since when are these bands classic rock? In my opinion there just a step ahead of boy bands.....

And wtf is all the praise these bands get just for being old!
Poison are not remotely classic rock, whereas Guns n Roses could be seen as classic rock as they are household name.

Guns n Roses to be honest were head and shoulders above the rest of the hair metal brigade but then again that wasn`t much of an achievement. They have some great albums, but the handful of albums that they`ve managed to put out in the last 25 years is a poor amount. Despite the group having "the hard rock image", Axl Rose is a lousy singer.

I always liked "Paradise City" (from 'Appetite for Destruction'). Nothing wrong with it

I use my Mum as a barometer to decide what's classic or not.

If I ask her who Guns n Roses are she knows, If I ask her who Soundgarden are she'll probably look at me blankly.

I think Appetite is in a totally different league to anything Soundgarden did.
