Default Italian Metal

I've been noticing lately whenever I hear about a metal or metal-ish band from Italy they invariably turn out to be absolutely amazing. I have some examples below for anyone not familiar with these bands but what I'd really love is for people to recommend me some more. Anyone?

I don't know much Italian Metal at all. I know of a few Prog bands but that's about it.

Lacuna Coil are Italian and obviously very commercial but I do have a soft spot for them.

I do have this album by Ephel Duath:

Hmmm... I on the other hand have heard of people post-slutting just so they can post a link and I would like to let you know it's against the rules here.

Ah, Italian Metal. I think I have a few bands that might pique your interest Janszoon. Of course the most popular Italian metal band I can think of off the top of my head would be Lacuna Coil. Now, it can be argued if they're latter material can be classified metal but their earlier stuff I find to be pretty tight, not to mention their female singer is a looker.

Up next is a relatively new band that is making headway in the metal scene and perhaps you've heard of them. Amia Venera Landscape is this band and they incorporate metalcore, post-rock, and general bad-assery to their music. They're EP got me interested earlier this year and their full-length debut The Long Procession is simply a stellar metal record and made my top 10 albums of 2010. I highly recommend you check the band out if you like ambient passages, monumental riffs, along with both harsh vox and some great cleans.

Besides these two bands (which you probably already know about), All I can think of is Rhapsody and Fleshgod Apocalypse

^Haha, yeah - Mighty Rhapsody immediately comes to mind. I don't like them, but it's because I find them embarassing and more than a little hilarious. However, if I was into Dungeons & Dragons metal and cheesyness held no fears for me, then I would probably like them.

Graveworm is one of my favorites, and from Italy. Symphonic Black Metal (With Gothic Metal influence as well; on earlier releases)
