Die Krupps
 

I just discovered this band an thought I should write something about them. Die Krupps are an industrial-rock/ebm band formed in 1980 in Germany. I must say I'm not a fan of their later industrial/metal hybrid, but I kind of liked the second song you posted. Not bad.

However, I looove their early 80s stuff, noisy post-punk of the first album, EBM of the second, catchy synths, minimalism...The third album I could do without. It has some solid songs, but also some cheesy electro-pop.

the second album is great, but I'm not a big fan of their first album, since in my opinion a song needs to have more elements if it's going to last over 10 minutes

I first encountered these guys in the 90s and the song was their Bloodsuckers single.



My general feelings towards Die Krupps is that they're a bit embarassing and trying a bit too hard which makes them somewhat comical. You know, they're just such bad characters, aren't they? Their lyrics sound a bit silly to me, not necessarily in message but in the choice of words and so on. F.ex in Bloodsuckers, the line "Don't eat your own heart .. Cause you can never win!". Or, from To the Hilt, "Nothing's the same, I can't pronounce my name". It just tickles my funny bone ever so slightly. The comical 90s Kid Rock image of the singer from the Bloodsuckers vid doesn't help.

They have something though. These songs are not entirely without charm :)

I usually try to ignore the lyrics because most of the bands that I like have awful lyrics
