Indeed it is.

Ratt was one of the very best bands of the hair metal days, they had some pretty great musicians. They were widely successful, but I feel they deserved more recognition still. Round and Round, I think I listened to that song way too damn much as a kid. I still listen to it, but only if it comes on Pandora. It is a timeless song, in my own opinion.

Out of the Cellar is a timeless record.

Given this thread is about 4 years old I'm assuming they didn't win this grammy then.

I guess not, but an article from 2011 also mentions that Dokken were nominees as well.

Apparently they lost to Iron Maiden. Never knew they were Grammy winners. I guess the Grammy's have done one thing right at least.

In 2011 Iron Maiden won best metal performance at the Grammy's but I didn't see Ratt in contention.

Or are you talking about the 'Hall of Fame'?

You said Dokken were up in 2011. I don't know who may or may not have beaten out Ratt.

... Just checked, and Dokken were nominees in 1990 (lost to Metallica), while Ratt have never been nominated. So, this thread is bogus. And yes, Maiden won in 2011.

I've looked into it.
They were on the shortlist for 2010 but didn't make the final ballot.

Oh, well. No grammy for them, then. "Out of the Cellar" is fun, but I think "Tooth and Nail" by Dokken is probably the quintessential hair metal album, because it has held up pretty well. People still love it when it comes on, even people who hate hair metal.

So then the thread is bogus, as Ratt didn't even make the shortlist.

Blech on Dokken. Their music is so middle-of-the-road and inoffensively boring, but their singer is just awful. That band just has no personality. Motley Crue's Too Fast for Love is the quintessential glam metal album.
