It's Funk Metal week.
Apologies to everyone but I forgot to do this yesterday.
For the next six days now, it is funk metal week here at MB! Fairly self explanatory this week, funk metal is a term used to describe artists or musicians who combine elements of funk-rock with heavy metal. Noteable artists therefore include Faith No More, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Fishbone, Rage Against the Machine, Primus, Clutch and Incubus. However i'm sure MB can help expand on this with their submissions! RYM Wiki |

I love most of those bands, especially FNM, RHCP, Rage, and Incubus. So I guess this means I like funk metal, even though I'd never really thought about it as a genre. Outside of these bands though I don't think I really know much else, so I'll be looking forward to seeing what other artists people bring up |

it's weird i would have never ever considered Clutch to be 'funky' until now....i love their self titled album and pretty much every song on it is funky as all hell...so a couple of favorites
^in my opinion it just does not get much better than this |

nice
to be honest when that album first came out i hated it...it was such a major step away from Transitional Speedway League...but after a little bit of time i came to realize that they are way to talented to be playing hard/metal/rock type stuff....still to date this is my favorite album by them my favorite non first album track |

So thats what genre Faith No More is.
Oh well. Can't say I know them as well as I'd like to (and I honestly don't know anything of the RHCP except for the massive radio singles) but maybe I'll use this week to work on that. Two fave tracks: |

Korn
Korn is an obvious crossover from Nu-Metal to Funk Metal, I like the simplicity of the music, just a basic strong/powerful rythm section with funk to it, a complete lack of lead guitar, I dont think a lead solo would fit the style anyway, the distortion, vocals, and attitude is all metal.
