Nice to see some people actually bother to know some music history.

Led Zeppelin, UFO , Thin Lizzy, Uriah Heep , Jethro Tull, even Status Quo were considered heavy metal in the 70s
Motley Crue , Def Leppard , Whitesnake and all that lot were considered heavy metal in the 80s.

Just because they don`t sound like the metal of today doesn`t mean they`re were not metal bands. They were considered so at the time , they were covered in metal magazines , they were played on metal shows on radio & tv. Hell even Kerrang magazine called U2 'The Led Zeppelin of the 80s' when they first started.

I'm mostly a hardcore/metalcore gal, but here's some of my real metal favs:

Megadeth
Old Metallica
Anthrax
MetalChurch
Judas Priest
Maiden
Napalm Death
Ozzy
Black Label Society
and of course...Pantera

I'm actually getting into Doom/Stoner metal now.
I'm digging Bongzilla at this moment.
