i know it doesnt, never said it did. so are you not classing bands such as GC, bink 182, bowling for soup etc as modern? yes, blink formed in the 90s but they've had most of their success in the 00's. and though all of them have heavy pop influences its still rock. thought you liked velvet revolver, franx ferdinand (a bit) and the like too.
