You didn't find one song?!?

Ignoring Hot Fuss, Sam's Town, and Imploding the mirage - just to highlight what you should try:

Spaceman
The Way It Was
The Man
Run for Cover

Admittedly, the first two albums are the real meat of the discography, but they're a solid rock band that isn't nearly as generic as much of what dominates modern rock radio (Foo Fights, Kings of Leon, Mumford) and my god do they put on a ****ing live show.

From those 4 songs I would say only Spaceman is a really great song, and it's from Day and age which is 3 albums before ITM. The rest feel like fillers. Nothing compared to most of the songs on ITM or Hot Fuss. For me. Different strokes I guess.

I love you, man, but you're killing me.

I'm no expert on The Killers but they're kinda boring. At least on record.

I didn't realize Human was on Day & Age. That's also a solid track.

I like them on record, so factor that in but when I went to see them for the first time, I was like "yeah this should be cool" and they blew me away.

"Are we human, or are we dancer?". I thought that was actually a low point for them. But the music is solid yes.

Low-point in what way? But yes, that song.

The Killers always seems a bit pulled in two directions. They broke with Somebody Told Me but they always seemed to have one foot in the Springsteen grave (lyrics like, "I never really gave up on breaking out of this two-bit town") and the new wave aesthetic that was clearly all over the first album. I think Day & Age responds to the heavy-handed Springsteen influence on Sam's Town. It's admittedly overly electronic but I still like a few tracks.

Did you like "Somebody told me?"

adidasss 06-19-2021 10:12 AM

Hot fuss is one of my favorite albums, period. Of course I like Somebody told me...;)

Low point in that even though I rarely pay attention to lyrics, I noticed how stupid and cringey and laughable it sounded.

But yeah I agree, after Hot fuss they discovered Springsteen and started aping him to an embarrassing extent. They're still not entirely over it.

Btw, I started listening to this and couldn't finish. Doesn't work at all. I feel.

Do you think you just don't like Springsteen? The Boss is class-struggle music. It's not for everyone.

I don't know if I'd say they did it to an embarrassing extent (maybe if you don't like him, it could be) Sam's Town was a pretty solid record. And they've had a few hits off most albums. I don't think they're going to be the Rolling Stones, but they're an above average rock band.

So which era of Springsteen does Pressure machine ape?
