Slayer vs Metallica

Does anyone here think that Ride The Lightning is better than Master Of Puppets? I reckon it is.

I've debated that myself for so long. I think I have to go with MoP but the other one is great too. I think of MoP as a slightly more evolved version of Ride the Lightning. I also love Kill 'em All. To me, RtL is the transition b/w that album and MoP - leaning towards the "maturity" of MoP. But let's not forget about Kill 'em All. It's a great album. If Metallica stayed that raw they may have rivaled Slayer in the later years.

yeah Kill Em All is great. You can't beat Seek And Destroy and Metal Militia.

I think Ride the Lightning is by far their best album, yes even better than Kill Em' All, it's a badass album but it doesn't pump me up like RTL does.

I totally agree with MoP being a more evolved version of RtL. I've always thought of the to of them as very much having the same template. KEA I have to admit has never done it for me though. I think it's mostly the guitar playing that I don't like about it, though the pre-pubescent sounding vocals are kind of a turn-off too.

You hit the nail on the head in describing King. This may sound cliche to reference "Raining Blood" but if anyone has actually taken the the time to look at the tabs for the little bridge or whatever he does at about 1:10 they'd know that it's ridiculous. Not necessarily finger placement or anything like that but just blinding speed.

Blinding speed is nothing more than "fretted out noise wanking" without the application of correct finger placement. Not being sarcastic, just suggesting.

I was just talking about that particular moment in raining blood, the challenging part isn't anything other than playing it as fast as kerry does. All the notes are on the top string, it's just super hard to play it that fast. That's all I'm saying.

I think many people forget that Hanneman is the main writer of Slayer's music and he doesn't get the attention he deserves.

I will say though that I dislike virtually all of Slayer's solo's. They fit the music brilliantly but they are the weakest part of their sound.
