/\ another easily-taken and oft-defended "opinion." If the deabte is dumb" and you don't like it then create a debate you like. Who Invented Polka maybe.

 Haha, you're so funny. I'm not claiming its stupid to debate it, just that its stupid because you can almost never come to a conclusion or consensus. If people want to debate it, I don't have a problem with that. Feel free. I just don't see how it does any good because nothing gets accomplished.

Oh and by the way, since I posted my "easily-taken and oft-defended opinion", I'm actually participating in the debate, not just criticizing it. So you can lay off...

/\ I could but I won't. If we came to a conclusion that was easy this wouldn't be a deabte it would be a question. Because its hard, its a deabte. And no your not taking part in the deabate, you need to stay within the parameters. To participate, you'd have to state an answer and maybe back it up with facts. Saying it won't have a dfinitive end is not debating.

In elections if a candidate says "Hmm thats a tough question that probably won't have one answer" no one would say he/she A.) Answered the question or B.) furthered the debate.

Debates aren't always questions with hard conclusions. They are just subjects with differing opinions (often hotly contested). And in reality, how are you going to back up your opinion with a "fact" on a subject like this? Most of it is all opinion, or peoples interpretation of facts.

Since our own little "debate" has gone off topic, I'm not going to post any more about it. My original post was within the parameters of this debate, and I stand by it.

who really cares where punk originated from .... is it really that interesting?

ish 06-01-2005 01:42 AM

Some people might find it rather interesting but as someone already said it doesn't get invented....it evolves from something to another and is then made. They don't work on it till they have something new that's just silly

I woulda said Iggy Pop started it all but I chose the pistols

right-track 06-07-2005 03:35 PM

If anyone could go further back than The New York Dolls I'd be interested

jesus 06-07-2005 03:42 PM

if anyone agrees with me when I say "I really don't give a fuck who 'invented' punk because people obviously don't just 'invent' genres and i'm happy as long as I can listen to the music today" I'd be interested..well I wouldn't be interested but this thread needed to be moved/closed a long time ago for several reasons
