Have you actually heard the Velvet Underground & Nico ?
It sound more like the soundtrack to some arty french film than anything. Yes it was an influence , but not musically |

I've been saying that for quite some time but I dont think I have a high enough post count for people to belive me. Its like I posted on page 2 theres no way that is a "punk" album by any standards. Its awsome, but nothing about songs like Ill be your mirror is punk. Like I say, I dont think I have the post numbers for people to belive me though, maybe in another couple months Ill be popular enough.... |
ramones and the pistols made punk a trend, those two bands did not create punk. punk sucks though but i have to aurgue because it's fun. all punk is now is a huge fashion competition, who can get the coolest converse shoes or wear the wierdest pants or stand out the most. it's all friggin ***.

Thats where the name comes from. They were not saying Lou Reed was 'Punk' , you have to remember there was no punk movement in 1974 when this fanzine was written. What they were suggesting was that Lou Reeds music appealed to 'punks' as in people on the streets , junkies & social outcasts , hence the music was called 'punk rock'. It`s got nothing to do with the sound of punk or what became punk. Thats just where the phrase was coined. |

After a little research I have determined that the orgins of punk actualy came from a 1920 silent cartoon film called The Punk Piper.
