"Kick Out the Jams Mother Fuckers!" Their debut live album is a classic, but I wouldn't call them punk, like a lot of bands mentioned they just helped to influence it.

For that reason I only named the bands that had their debuts in 1977 when punk was at its height. By 1978 New wave and post-punk had taken over (a lot of bands were no longer being referred to as punk)

That's cool. What I thought "the time" meant was '77-'79. A lot of people around me in the "real world" use that phrase in that not-so-direct fashion.

Do yourself a favour and actually listen to NOMEANSNO before making a comment so blatantly wrong when you're given the perfect example on a platter. (Personally, Humans is my favourite of their tunes).

(That symbol usually means the person making the comment wasn't being serious)

lots of great bands from that time which arent as big as they should be. Stiff Little Fingers, The Vibrators, The Dead Boys, The Toy Dolls.... list goes on and on.
Stiff Little Fingers are great

The Toy Dolls suffered a big humiliation by having their biggest hit a novelty one - "Nellie the Elephant"

Yeah, they may be known for that song most. A novelty cover. But "Dig that Groove Baby" is a great album, that is fun to listen to.

Try not to get this song stuck in your head:

Olga is also one of the most under appreciated guitarists in all of punk. Great guitarist.

surprised this hasn't come up yet:

released in 1975. Even RateYourMusic lists this as the first punk album (do what you will with that, not written in stone)

also features Ross the Boss, who would go on to play in Manowar.
