I wouldn't ever try to deny Taylor's influence. I cite Coleman because he's credited with establishing a distinct musical philosophy (Harmolodic) that was first applied with his landmark recording. It's not a matter of necessarily being the first or the best to bring improvisation to the table but rather than just having it on the table Coleman made it the main course and was able to convince others to take the risk of releasing the first album that featured those distinctions.

Citing Wikipedia doesn't count.

That is like going to a meeting of experts and pulling out a pamphlet and claiming you know more than them, when i reality you know nothing and just wanna look like you do so not to be called an idiot in their presence.

Well it all depends what's on the pamphlet doesn't it. Unless you can divulge what's on the pamphlet I think it's a moot point bringing it up in the first place.

Psy-Fi Link Wray would definitely be a the top of the list. Rumble is definitely one of those songs from the early days of Rock and Roll that left it mark on countless guitar players and Link Wray's influence can not be understated.

Psy-Fi +1 point
BastardoFyoung -2 point

Link Wray had nothing to do with punk no matter what you say, get over it. Just cause some random critic thinks it's true, doesnt make it so.

Now, let's find someone who was an actual punk, not just someone who got called one cause they had a similar attitude that would be part of punk.

Which is what you are, so I guess what you think is true, doesn't make it so.

No, I am right on this one.

There was no such thing as punk when Link Wray started. You may credit him with rockabilly, but not punk.

I stated my reasons long ago in this thread.

Link Wray is not punk, and your comment is pointless.

Further more, the citation given isn't even linked. So doesn't count as a citation.

Uhg, when will this thread die?

As I stated before:

Hell... I've seen people mention Johnny Cash, Bob Dylan, and Woody Guthrie a few times.

Honestly, I feel this debate is just going in circles... The same bands and the same people keep being listed over and over again (it's not really going anywhere). Of course, I'm guilty of continuing it...
