Im sure this has been said but punk was broadly invented by the proto punk bands of the mainly 60s and 70s like MC5 and Velvet Underground. Early punk bands like the Ramones took influence from different aspects of these bands to create punk.

Ok influences doesn't mean that we can't have someone who created punk. Thats the most absurd thing I've ever heard. People can't create something because that something was influenced by predacessors? Dude what? Then no one created anything.

Honestly, I think this is a stupid debate. Its very hard to say who "invented" punk (if such a thing were possible). I think you will find in music, things aren't invented, they evolve. No one actually creates a style of music, they are just variations of their influences and the people who came before them.

And no your not taking part in the deabate, you need to stay within the parameters. To participate, you'd have to state an answer and maybe back it up with facts. Saying it won't have a dfinitive end is not debating.

In elections if a candidate says "Hmm thats a tough question that probably won't have one answer" no one would say he/she A.) Answered the question or B.) furthered the debate.

Debates aren't always questions with hard conclusions. They are just subjects with differing opinions (often hotly contested). And in reality, how are you going to back up your opinion with a "fact" on a subject like this? Most of it is all opinion, or peoples interpretation of facts.

Since our own little "debate" has gone off topic, I'm not going to post any more about it. My original post was within the parameters of this debate, and I stand by it.

Some people might find it rather interesting but as someone already said it doesn't get invented....it evolves from something to another and is then made. They don't work on it till they have something new that's just silly
