I was about to post Izzy. Awesome guitarist, awesome songwriter, awesome singer, http://tinpan.fortunecity.com/ocean/468/izzy18.jpg and not a shabby solo career either. |
Page, Hendrix, Johnny Marr, Keef.

Rhythm guitarist. When did Hendrix and Page play rhythm on anything? |

the thing with Hendrix is that he seamlessly blended his rhythm and lead styles into a cohesive and unique package. seriously though, any time i comment in a 'best' guitar player thread i always read it as 'best not counting Hendrix since none have eclipsed him yet'.
and to say Page never played rhythm is the mark of a troll trying FAR too hard to get a rise out of guitarists as LZ's songwriting style kept the rhythm and lead parts quite distinct. you don't need to like his rhythm playing but to deny he did is absolute folly. |

yeah most of LZ1 is a tele

I always thought him mainly aLes Paul player. I just enjoy seeing single coils being used for heavier sounds. I love Strat/Tele (p90 style) guitars but for the music I play they seem to be far to thin sounding. Tele can get heavy but I doubt they could ever have enough bottom end and thickness covering a Kyuss and Sleep song.
