After that your quite right, as all their work was steered into a commercial direction which was a pity given all the talent on show, despite all that "Knee Deep in the Hoopla" was an album I enjoyed a lot. |

It's hard to forgive them for a song like "We Built This City on Rock and Roll" though... ugh, not a very memorable track at all...

Well, hey it's ok, I can't really criticize too much, after all, Ido happen to think that Genesis' Invisible Touch album was great, as were the ones that came after it... even the last one without Phil Collins...

90125 is one of the finest pop albums of the 80s, I don't care what anyone says. But anyway, while on the topic. Awesome song, but this is probably the worst music video I've ever seen. Last edited by boo boo; 03-22-2010 at 04:16 AM. |

I think the Phil era Genesis albums were good up until We Can't Dance. Abacab especially gets more hate than it deserves, it seems like every prog fan thinks it's heresy for a progressive rock band to actually take a different approach after putting out the same kind of music for well over a decade. A progressive rock band experimenting with other genres of music? HOW DISGRACEFUL! Sure, they had some terrible songs, like Illegal Alien and I Can't Dance. But they also had some real gems like That's All and Land of Confusion. |

A Trick of the Tail was pretty good, even if it was a bit of a step down from their previous album. Duke and Genesis (Shapes) were excellent pop/rock, but after that, I really can't say much. Invisible Touch was God-A-wful.
