Default Dmb & dsbm

Hello people of MusicBanter!

I'd like to ask if someone here is into Depressive Black Metal or Depressive Suicidal Black Metal (not much of a difference, in fact, between those two).

I got into this genre when I stumbled upon an album "Il Etait Une Foret" by Canadian band Gris. I am really lucky, because it is the best DSBM album I have ever heard. Then I moved onto the bands like Silencer (I did like the atmosphere, but the vocals are horrible), Sombres Forets, Misere Luminis, Sui Caedere, Xasthur, Forgive Me and much much more..

So, does anyone share my interests here?

Regards, A.

I don't, but maybe you could share what your interest is? I couldn't tell you how many existing members would be in for something like this, but if you tell us what grabs you about this music, we might be able to discuss things further.

Ookay..

The thing that grabs me about this thing is the atmosphere, classical music influences and acoustic parts.

Check out this song by Gris. Mellow acoustic riff, great vocals (sometimes Icare, the vocalist, goes from deep guttural gurgling straight to overtone crying/screaming) and awesome guitars in the end. Very melodic, calm and emotive.

The only black metal I really like tends to be in the vane of Sarco***o, Blasphemy, or Order from Chaos. The drawn out, new wave stuff that's about "atmosphere" and has acoustic segments.... I think it's metalcore idiocy with black metal aesthetics.

depressive black metal is cool, but I have to be in the mood for it to listen to it... I like Xasthur, Woods Of Desolation, Black Funeral...

LOL.

Anyway, I might be able to get you some bands. It's not really my genre, but I have some friends I could ask. I'll get back to you. hah.

I'll throw a vouch to Xasthur though. Not sure if that really fits what you're looking for though. Great atmosphere regardless.

Perhaps try the pioneering forgotten woods... the album as the wolves gather is top
