if you were actually trying to do research you would be in a library or in contact with legitimate consumer research firms to find out where you can find published results of valid studies. asking a bunch of randoms on the internet about a generalization = worthless. besides, the initial question in this thread is worded in a yes / no fashion. there's no room for debate. so here's your answer and i think everyone here will agree... yes - men are characterized and stereotyped in music videos. good luck on your homework. Last edited by mr dave; 02-01-2010 at 12:59 AM. |

Yes, women are characterised and stereotyped in music videos. If this really is a school assignment I think you should watch some music videos yourself and discover the ways in which different genders are stereotyped and come up with your own original contentions, rather than trying to get people on the internet to come up with a profound observation that you can copy and paste into your assignment. "Primary research" should be watching music videos yourselves, not surveying random people on the net. |

The representation of the sexes in film does not vary according to the intent of the film; that is, in short films, music videos, movies, etc., it is consistent.
Godard said all you need for a film is a gun and a girl. This summarizes half the reason women are in film, they're a plot device. They move the story along. The other thing they contribute is tits. What's amazing is that this is the case in films marketed to women as well; Pretty Woman is an excellent example of this. So, there you have it. Any woman in any film is nothing other than a plot device with tits. |
