^ That's awesome that you love Sound Awake so much... it's a great album.

And Karnivool have just announced a UK tour if you're interested... not sure if they'll be playing anywhere near you, though.

So which one of their albums should I begin with? (One that sounds more Porcupine Tree and less Meshuggah...)
And also which Cog album?

Well both bands only really have 2 full-length albums. I think you'd enjoy either Karnivool album, they're more similar to Porcupine Tree than Meshuggah anyway, the vocals are very Porcupine Tree-esque. Themata and Sound Awake are both pretty accessible but I tend to find that more people prefer the latter.

As for Cog, I'd start with The New Normal as personally I never got into the more recent one as much.
