I think Jane's Addiction has always sounded like Jane's Addiciton. Just because the field had changed 15 years later doesn't mean something is wrong, is a good thing for everyone.

Cornell's solo/newer stuff is horrible in my opinion and I hope they're able to do it decently.
I generally don't like when bands reform because it's awkward and never the same. I would enjoy to make a list of examples if you ask. |

Unless Cornell's voice magically recovers and de-ages about a decade through surgery or God's healing or whatever, I'd say it is set in stone that nothing good will come out of this reunion.

Oh boy...this thread...
My hope, after a career of internet trolling, is that when i die I'm allowed to haunt the **** out of pissy kids on the interwebs.

Poor guy, he can still sing like a mother****er, better than anybody that's judging him in this thread, that's for sure. But I just have a feeling that as soon as he tries to blast into "Slaves and Bulldozers", it might get a little messy.

normally i loathe reunion tours. last year's FNM reunion forced me to reconsider my position. an interview with Kim Thayil from last fall also had me braced for an eventual SG reunion. it's like he said, when's the last time anyone saw a Soundgarden t-shirt or poster for sale? the band went under in '97, then their management company, then the label they were on got swallowed, and the band became a footnote of the 90s rock movement. i used to own 3 SG shirts, only have 1 left and it's holier than christ. posters? only the ones i salvaged from guitar world magazine. depending on how this tour goes the mythical B-Sides compilation of live cuts, european and japanese only single tracks, the 2nd disc to the limited edition Badmotorfinger double release (satanoscillatemymetallicsonatas) might actually see the light of day. i already went through the hassle of searching EVERY single day for MONTHS to score a copy of 'fresh deadly roses' a decade ago on soulseek, i don't want to cheapen that with a discographical torrent of their catalog to make sure i have all the mp3s, i want the final missing disc for my collection. anyone have any word on tour dates yet? anything for Vancouver, BC? |
