I think that's the problem. If Blue was my first listen to Baroness, I would have loved it, and then Red would have just shot me the rest of the way to the moon. But as it is, the first time I listened to Blue, I had spent at least a year being gaga over Red, so Blue just felt like a disappointment. I like it a lot more these days, but it still feels like a missed opportunity to me.

I'm not even being hyperbolic; for me, that entire song is just this side of unlistenable.
RIP Baroness. Then again, I don't even like their Blue album much so never mind me.

New song- March to the Sea
Pitchfork's description is spot on. They've gone full-mainstream-rock. Unless this double album ends up being half-metal half-rock, it's going to create a deep divide in their fan base. I trust them though. That song was much better Take My Bones Away, and I think they could make some great rock. |
