Isn't that meant to be the best kind of metal though - that which disturbs one? You guys are making me intrigued, thats for sure!

Arranged alphabetically by artist, because if I tried to rank them I would never be able to decide:
Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale Meshuggah - Catch 33 Metallica - Master of Puppets Neurosis - Through Silver in Blood Tool - Lateralus Aside from MoP, which was the album that got me (and countless others) into metal and therefore enjoys a personal bias from me, my faves tend to focus more on the atmospheric, recent strains of metal, as opposed to the older, riffs-and-solos-oriented variants. |

Aside from the Pantera album, which I've yet to listen to, all the albums in your list are beyond amazing. Cynic progressive elements are inspiring, Between the Buried and Me's combination of cacophony and a more mellow sound makes it a very fun album and anything Mastodon does with their fluid experimental works is bound to amaze! |
