Latest Hatebreed
Apologies if this topic is up somewhere, i can't find it
I'm getting a bit of stick for being super dissappointed in the new Hatebreed album. I think the latest material is awful although admittedly intricate and clever guitar work, just not the chunky punching riffs that made me like them in the first place many years ago Perhaps if i heard this cd before anything else i might have liked it, i do try but i just keep hearing 80s hair metal snippets throughout which make me squirm from a band who made their mark with bone crushing heaviness The instrumental could be off Death Magnetic for example. By saying this i recognise its a well written piece of music but i just can't bring myself to like it, it actually make me angry  Any other long term fans understand where i'm coming from? |
This is my first post and what better way to start off than a Hatebreed thread. The time from from Under the Knife to Perseverance I was a diehard fan.Back then all I listened to was hardcore but my interest in all metal grew from there.
With that said,I liked the new album. My opinion could be a bit biased because I'm a long time supporter but I wasn't disappointed with the release. While some of the songs didn't fit the Hatebreed 'feel',it was nice to hear them cover different styles that they weren't accustomed to playing. My favorites off of the album were the Slayer,Metallica and Subzero covers.Their cover of Escape is nasty IMO. While I would have preferred some originals, hearing them pay tribute to the bands that inspired them was cool. Also,a tribute album like this is a lot better than having them rush together new material that could potentially be subpar. |
errrr
I'm not talking about For the Lions cover CD Ryan from earlier in the year I'm talking about their new CD/album which came out a few weeks ago |

I'd never describe them as "bone crushing heaviness"
more like "tough guy breakdowns" |

Unrelenting - just a figure of speech which i stand by, and another example of different peoples perception of "heavy" as being discussed in another thread |

I heard a few songs and thought they followed in the footsteps of the more recent Hatebreed albums.I'll have to listen to those songs a little more as well as some others before I can give an honest opinion of the album. While their sound may stay the same or change for better/worse,it's important to remember what Hatebreed did, does and will stand for. |
