Basically, you guys are generalizing music you know little about based on your limited knowledge of these genres through mainstream media outlets. This is what happens when you learn about music through radio and MTV.

i would say that you havent looked hard enough. There is plenty good hiphop out there if you look that's not about cliches. Try Mr Lif, Murs and EL-P. Not bitches etc but real life. Same with 'emo'. You've got to wade through the crap to find the good stuff, as with most music.
