Essay for college on females in music!! Suggestions???
I’m writing an essay for college on females in music... Female bands- not very exciting? It’s supposed to be a rhetorical question just before I get slated. I’m finding these few up my street at the moment and including them, L7, Sleater Kinney, Garbage, The Kut, Hole, are there any more good ones that I’m missing?

Sonic Youth, Cocteau Twins, No Doubt, Pretty Girls Make Graves and The Gossip.
There's just a few off the top of my head if you want females in bands. If you mean solo also, then you've missed hundreds and hundreds. |

Women in punk would be more interesting I think. You could write about early female punkers from the 70s like Pattie Smith, The Raincoats, The Castrators and The Slits .. Or Siouxsie Sioux. I think they're interesting because they played punk, but they didn't do it like the guys were doing it. They definetly made it their own with a feminine touch. The Donnas are so boring in comparison!
