This seems to be the common consensus. Also Vince Neil didn`t sound too bad on Theatre of Pain.

Well, protools can make anyone sound good.

but protools was only commercially released in 1991, (2 years after dr. feelgood) and the majority of rock bands of the day hated the idea of going digital...

Vince sounded good on those records because he was feeling good. like him or not his voice is integral to the band. to my ears it's his voice that immediately distinguishes the band from their peers.

It just doesn't pop out to me. Maybe I cant get past the fact that he's a huge ****ing douchebag. I dunno, I've never been a fan.

I used to listen to alot of their stuff. I lost interest though because it got old.

After listening to their fourth album Girls, Girls, Girls its probably the worst for Vince Neil`s voice so far, in comparison to the previous albums. Also, the album is probably poorer than their earlier efforts, despite the fact that it has some of their best known songs on it "Girls, Girls, Girls" "Wild Side" "You`re All I Need" but the remainder of the albums is piss poor with riffs and tunes from previous albums. The album though, does represent the decadent and hard living lifestyle of the group and for that reason its worth a listen.

right, but the initial comment about protools came up in regards to Neil's vocals on 'theatre of pain'. everyone knew the band was going to crap in the late 80s, you can only snort so many mountains of cocaine before things go bad.

as a kid i remember 'smoking in boys room' getting airplay all over the place, same with a few other singles from around that time then they basically disappeared until 'dr. feelgood'.
