To be fair most bands have usually been marketed at a target audience and usually the band's have been under pressure from the record company to do so.
It's just sad though, that so many recent metal bands have been targeted at kids and we've ended up with angsty kids sucking up to ****ty metal bands. Tool though are going to be far harder to market though, than say either a band like Slipknot or Korn.
