I don't get it, what's the similarity between Radiohead and Tool? They sound completely different to me.

I agree, they're a very odd comparison.

Yeah, I don't even like Radiohead, but them and Tool are two completely different bands in terms of genres, sounds, and pretty much everything else.

Widespread hero-worship is the connection. Duh.

Might as well toss in The Beatles too.

Just name any iconic band, and you can put them in the same group. Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Radiohead, Nirvana, etc etc etc.

They all have a following that thinks that band is the greatest band to ever grace the airwaves.

Well, to be fair, I'd say what differentiates Tool & Radiohead from, say, Slayer (or Bieber, for that matter) is the former have tried to cultivate an aura of intellectualism in regards to their music. Some fans feel that by merely enjoying this music, it signifies they've caught onto something significant, leading to tremendous douchebagery. "Oh, you don't like Radiohead? It's ok, a lot of people don't like deep music."

Maybe I should read more of your posts.

I only wonder why some people go into a specified music thread only to trash talk them our of sheer boredom. If the band thread is currently in a discussion whether or not you like them is a different story, going into a thread just because you want to randomly trash talk them is another thing.
