great band. maynard is one of my favorite singers. Aenima might be my favorite album of their, but I can't decide if it's actually better than Lateralus or if it's the nostalgia talking. I grew up hearing Stinkfist play in the car all the time when I had a babysitter and such, and totally forgot about it until I started hearing it on the radio again after I actually started listening to music. Finally "discovering" Tool blew my mind

I've tried several times to listen to Tool, mainly because I have a friend that likes them. Every time I listen to them I am more confused as to why anyone at all likes them, I just cant seem to hear it. They sound like a bunch of 14 year olds that have just formed their first band having only been playing their instruments for a few days.

I know what I'm about to say might annoy a few people and I'm not trying to annoy anyone on purpose its just a thought of mine, I think most Tool fans just haven't listened to a lot of other music and they haven't realized yet that in reality they don't really think Tool are that good. Its the only conclusion I can come to.

The bolded part in your opinion just makes it so hard to take you seriously. That's basically what everybody says about every band they don't like.

I didn't mean it in a pretentious prog rock kind of way, and I don't care if you take me seriously or not.

It's not that. It just sounds like your using a tired out of date opinion to state why you don't like the band, instead of thinking up something yourself to say why you don't like the band. Saying "they sound like 14 year olds" is just an excuse to not say anything constructive.

It didn't state anywhere that I had to be constructive, if it had of I wouldn't have posted anything because I cant think of anything constructive to say about them.

Well, you don't HAVE to be constructive, but if you're trying to generate conversation, it's always good to have some sort of meat to your opinion.
