So I finally started with this band.
Ok, I admit I have now period when I listen to bands that are on list of Steven Wilson No interest for Radiohead (I don't like voice of their singer) or Meshuggah (it's too heavy music for me). I don't copy taste of SW, I just try to find some good bands for myself. And I found some great bands like Opeth and Anathema so I continue with searching and now it's time for Tool. Two times I listened Aenima and 10 000 days. Aenima seems to be better for me. In general good and interesting music but I need more time to get into them. Now I will listen to these albums more and soon I will add also Lateralus and Undertow. |

I would have to agree with you that 10,000 days isn't as good as Aenema... it's still great, but Aenema has gotta almost be the band's greatest album, and it was released at the high point of their commercial / artistic recognition...

Yeah i have a hard time listening to 10,000 days from beginning to end, it is a great cd and vicarious is one of my favorite songs by them, i just can't get into the whole thing. Aenema on the other hand is great from beginning to end. not one song i would skip.

Ænima is entry level Tool and a great place to acquire a taste for them I'd then suggest Undertow next which in my opinion is their weakest album but has some wicked " easily accessible" tracks like prison sex and sober. Once hooked move on to Lateralus then 10000 days.
10000 days just needs A few listens to digest. Is my most played record in the last 3-4 years. |

It's pretty hard to say any of their stuff is weak, because none of it actually is... there is definite progression from album to album but each record offers strong material of a different nature...
